Vintage Ewe Ancestor Figure

This figure was kept by an Ewe person to represent an ancestor, resident of the spirit world. In this way the Ewe facilitate communication with the spirit world, their own ancestors, who, they believe, are instrumental in determining their own fate, controlling their own life here on Earth. Figures such as these often take after a specific member of their family, and often take on characteristics of that ancestor, such as a missing leg or arm.
